The short version
- We collect what the game needs: a player account (created for you without a name or email, unless you add them), your journeys and their results, and your coins, items, purchases and progress.
- The app never reads your phone's GPS. Journeys use the places you search for, and your car's position is simulated.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Adults choose whether ads are personalised where the law gives that choice; players under 18 only see non-personalised ads, and players under 13 get no account, ads, purchases or analytics. We never sell your data, and this website sets no cookies.
- You can delete your account and everything linked to it at any time: in the app, guest accounts included, or on the web for accounts with an email address.
01Who we are
This policy explains how Anystreet (“Anystreet”, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use the Anystreet mobile game (the “app”) and this website.
If you have questions about this policy or your data, see Contact.
02What we collect
When you first play, the game creates a guest account for your device, so your coins, purchases and progress are kept. A guest account has no name, email or password. You can add an email and password later, to keep the same account on other devices. Players who tell us they are under 13 get no account, and their progress stays on their device (see Children).
| Data | Details |
|---|---|
| Account | For a guest account: a random account number and a secret that stays in your device's secure storage (we keep only a keyed hash of it), and when the account was last used. If you add an email: your name, email address and password. We store passwords only as a one-way hash, never as readable text. |
| Profile | Your display name, a generated username, your XP and level, and when you joined. |
| Journeys | For each saved journey: the start and destination points you chose, the planned route distance and time, the journey's status and timestamps, and its result: distance driven, driving time, route accuracy, the number of off-route, speeding and collision events, score, stars and XP, and whether it was a Famous Drive, a Daily Drive or a job. |
| Leaderboards | When you complete a Famous Drive while signed in, your display name and that result (score, stars and driving time) are shown to other players on the drive's leaderboard. Nothing else about you is published there. You can change your display name in the app at any time, and deleting your account removes your results. |
| Famous Drive paths and ghosts | On a Famous Drive, the game records the path your in-game vehicle takes (its position every few metres and the time) and sends it with the result. We use it to check that a result is genuine before it is ranked, and to show it to other players as a "ghost" car on that drive, with your display name. Famous Drives run between public landmarks; the game never records a path for your own journeys, and this is your vehicle in the game, not your device's location. Deleting your account removes these paths. |
| Reminders | If you turn them on, the game schedules reminders on your device: when your streak is about to end, your tank is full or a new Daily Drive is out. They are created on your device from what the game already knows, and nothing about them is sent to us. The one exception is gameplay analytics, for players who allow it: whether reminders are on, and which kind of reminder brought you back. You can turn them off in the game's Settings or in your device's settings. |
| Rival codes | Your account has a random rival code. Anyone you give it to can follow you: they then see your display name, your Famous Drive results and your ghost. Following is one-way, nobody is notified, and nothing else about you is shared. Deleting your account removes your code and who you follow. |
| Journey events | Notable moments during a saved journey, such as leaving the route or a collision: the type, the time and an approximate in-game location (rounded to about 100 m). |
| Coins, items and progress | Your coins and fuel and a record of what changed them, the vehicles and cosmetics you own or are trying, your daily streak, missions, Road Trip season progress, and passport stamps (the countries where your saved journeys started or ended). |
| Purchases | For each in-app purchase or subscription: the store (Google Play, the App Store or our web shop), the product, the store's order or transaction identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, its status (for example renewed or refunded) and a pseudonymous token that links it to your account. We never receive your card or bank details: the store, or Stripe for the web shop, takes the payment. |
| Rewarded ads | When you choose to watch an ad for a reward: what the reward was for, when, and whether Google confirmed the ad was watched. |
| Gameplay analytics | Only for players aged 18 or over, and only with consent where the law requires it: a random install identifier, the app version and platform, and in-game events such as starting a drive, a purchase starting or completing, or an ad being shown. |
| Searches and routes | The place names you search for, a place you chose to rank the results near (rounded to about a kilometre), and the points you ask to route between. We use these to answer the request and do not store them, except as part of a journey you save. |
| Security data | Sign-in tokens (stored as hashes), one-time password reset codes (stored only in a keyed, hashed form), and IP addresses used briefly to prevent abuse, such as limiting repeated sign-in attempts. |
We do not collect your contacts, photos, microphone, camera or your phone's location, and our servers never receive your device's advertising identifier. Google's ad software in the app may use it, as described in Who else processes data.
03How we use it
- To run the game you asked for: creating your account, calculating routes, saving journeys, scoring them and tracking your progression. This is necessary to provide the service under our terms.
- To keep the service secure and fair: rate limiting, preventing abuse and checking that results are plausible. We rely on our legitimate interest in protecting players and the service.
- To run the in-game economy and store: crediting coins, fuel and items, checking purchases with Google, Apple or Stripe before granting them, and handling renewals, cancellations and refunds. This is necessary to provide what you bought.
- To show ads and grant ad rewards: Google shows ads in the app and confirms rewarded ads to our server so we can grant the reward. Where the law requires consent, for example in the UK and the EEA, Google's consent message asks for it, and you can change your choice in the app under Settings, then Purchases & privacy.
- To improve the game: counting how features are used, from the gameplay analytics described above. We rely on your consent where the law requires it, and on our legitimate interest in improving the game otherwise.
- To help you: emailing password reset codes you request and answering support messages.
- To meet legal obligations where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
We do not sell your data or use your journeys or locations for advertising. Personalised advertising happens only through Google's ad services, only for adults, and only with consent where the law requires it.
04Location data
Anystreet does not request location permissions or read your device's GPS. You choose places by searching, and your vehicle's position is simulated inside the game world.
The places you route between can still reveal locations that matter to you, such as a start point near your home. We store them only with the journeys saved to your account (a guest account included), we keep event locations approximate, passport stamps record only the country, and you can erase all of it by deleting your account. Players under 13 have no account, so their journeys never leave their device.
06How long we keep it
| Data | Kept until |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, journeys, coins, items and purchase records | You delete your account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. The app stores and Stripe keep their own records of payments under their policies. |
| Guest accounts | Also deleted automatically after 400 days without use, unless something was bought with them, so that purchases can still be restored. |
| Gameplay analytics | 90 days. |
| Rewarded ad records | Unclaimed ones are removed a week after they expire; claimed ones stay with your account. |
| Store notifications | 30 days. These are the messages the stores send about renewals and refunds. |
| Journey events | Removed once they are 30 days old and their journey has ended. Unfinished journeys are closed automatically, at most 37 hours after they start, so their events follow the same schedule. |
| Sign-in sessions | You sign out, your password is reset (all devices) or changed (your other devices), or 30 days pass, whichever comes first. |
| Password reset codes | Used, or expired after 15 minutes. Expired codes are purged daily. |
| Abuse-prevention records | Minutes to an hour, held as short-lived counters. |
Backups and server logs follow our hosting provider's retention cycle and are overwritten on that schedule.
07Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal data, and to receive a copy of it. Many of these are built into the game:
- Correct: change your display name or password in the app under Profile, then Manage account.
- Ads: where the law gives you a choice, change it in the app under Settings, then Purchases & privacy. You can also reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel Drive Pass in your app store account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription.
- Delete: delete your account and all its data in the app (Profile, then Delete guest data for a guest account), or from the web for an account with an email address, with no need to contact us.
- Access or a copy: contact us and we will provide your data.
- Complain: you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
08Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Passwords and sign-in tokens are stored only as hashes, sessions expire, and reset codes are short-lived and limited to five attempts. Sign-in, search and routing are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we design Anystreet to collect less, keep it for less time and protect what remains.
09Children
When the game first starts it asks for your year of birth. It keeps only the resulting age group on your device, never the date, and it does not send it to us.
- Under 13: no account is created and nothing is saved on our servers. The game shows no ads, offers no purchases and collects no analytics, and progress stays on the device.
- 13 to 17: only non-personalised ads suitable for teens, no analytics, and no consent requests. Purchases go through the app stores, whose parental controls, such as Ask to Buy, apply.
Accounts with an email address are for people aged 13 or older, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us, or delete the account using the deletion page.
10International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where data protection law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
11This website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or third-party scripts. Pages load only from our own server. Like most servers, ours may log technical details such as IP address, time and requested page, to keep it running and secure. Payments in our web shop happen on a checkout page hosted by Stripe, under Stripe's privacy policy.
12Changes
We will update this policy when our practices change, and change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will let you know before it takes effect, for example in the app or by email.
13Contact
For privacy questions or requests, use the contact options on our support page.
You can always delete your account yourself on the account deletion page.
